MOBILE APP
Apps, smartphones, and tablets are storming into classrooms around the world. But how do you figure out which apps are being used by teachers, admins, students, and parents?
It’s not an easy task, to be sure. But you can rest assured there are definitely some apps that are being used a bit more than others. For example, we’ve seen Dropbox and Edmodo used by just about every school district around Cambridge. There are many others and we offer a special thanks to our content content partners at Online Universities who assembled a list of some of the most used and most popular academic mobile apps being used right now.
Mobile devices are an essential part of our daily life today. The introduction of new technology in almost any domain also significantly affects education. As for the smart-phones, there has been a radical explosion which has comprehensively revolutionized the mobile media platform and changed communication.
Mobile app development firms are booming and their services are catering to increasingly larger set of audience by the day. This research explored how educators with limited programming experiences learned to design mobile apps through peer support and instructor guidance. Educators were positive about the sense of community in this online course.
They also considered App Inventor a great web-based visual programming tool for developing useful and fully functioning mobile apps. They had great sense of empowerment through developing unique apps by using App Inventor. They felt their own design work and creative problem solving were inspired by the customized mobile apps shared by peers.
The learning activities, including sharing customized apps, providing peer feedback, composing design proposals, and keeping design journals (blogging), complemented each other to support a positive sense of community and form a strong virtual community of learning mobile app design.
